EPALE is a multilingual, open platform that brings together a community of teachers, trainers, researchers, academics, policy makers and other professionals working in adult education across Europe.
EPALE is an initiative of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, launched in 2015. Community members exchange information related to adult learning, including news, blog posts, materials or events. EPALE currently operates in 36 European countries and has more than 48,000 registered users.
The community plays a central role in the EPALE platform. Thanks to platform features such as forums, communities of practice and comment sections, community members have the opportunity to connect with colleagues from across Europe who are also involved in adult learning, and to establish international collaborations. EPALE is a source of relevant articles, blogs and materials on adult learning. Last but not least, EPALE serves as a platform for disseminating adult learning projects and their outputs at European level.
Currently, the tasks of the Slovak support service for EPALE are carried out by the Department of European Policies (ŠIOV).
EPALE is funded by Erasmus+ through the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency. In 2019-2020, ŠIOV is implementing the EPALE National Support Service project, number: 604375-EPP-1-2018-1-EN-EPPKA2-EPALE-NSS
