Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Vocational Education and Training je poradným orgánom vlády Slovenskej republiky v oblasti odborného vzdelávania a prípravy.

In particular, the Government Council assesses strategic and conceptual documents in the field of vocational education and training in relation to the economic and social needs of the Slovak Republic, assesses the labour market needs plan in the field of vocational education and training.

It discusses sectoral concepts of vocational education and training, develops a plan for the promotion of vocational education and training, discusses and recommends to the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic the inclusion/exclusion of a new field of study or apprenticeship and their focus to/from the system of fields of education, discusses the list of fields of study and apprenticeship and their focus, which are beyond the scope of the plan of the needs of the labour market.

It discusses state educational programmes for vocational education and training, comments on space, material and equipment standards, comments on the financing of vocational education and training and recommends measures in the field of vocational education and training.
